faOtools Privacy Policy

How faOtools collects, uses, and protects your personal data, and the rights you have under the GDPR.

Last updated: July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how faOtools ("faOtools", "we", "us") collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal data when you visit https://faotools.com (the "Site"), contact us, or use our support portal. We process personal data in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679, the "GDPR") and applicable Portuguese law.

Who is responsible for your data (data controller)

The controller responsible for your personal data is the faOtools business:

  • Trading name: faOtools
  • EU VAT ID: PT332289761
  • Address: Rua Dr Jorge Munoz Cardoso 1G, Seixal, Portugal
  • Contact: please use our contact form, or e-mail us at infofaotools.com

Personal data we collect

We only collect data that we need. Depending on how you use the Site, this may include:

  • Technical & usage data - IP address, browser type, device and operating-system information, time zone, referring pages, pages viewed, and interactions with the Site. This is collected through server logs and, where you consent, through analytics cookies.
  • Contact & support data - the information you provide when you submit a form, open a support ticket, request a demo, or otherwise contact us, such as your name, e-mail address, company, and the content of your message.
  • Account data - if you create a portal account, the credentials and profile data needed to manage it.

We do not intentionally collect special categories of data, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 16. Purchases and payments for our apps are handled by Odoo through the Odoo Apps Store; we do not receive or store your payment-card details.

Why we use your data and our lawful bases

  • To provide our services and respond to you - answering questions, providing support and bug fixes, and delivering demos. Lawful basis: performance of a contract, or our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR).
  • To operate and secure the Site - keeping the Site available, preventing fraud and abuse (including bot protection). Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in a secure service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
  • To measure and improve the Site with analytics - understanding how the Site is used. Lawful basis: your consent, which you give through our cookie banner and can withdraw at any time (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
  • To comply with the law - for example bookkeeping and responding to lawful requests. Lawful basis: legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR).

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for automated decision-making that produces legal effects about you.

Cookies and analytics

We use strictly necessary cookies to run the Site (for example session, security, and your cookie choice) - these do not require consent. We use Google Analytics 4 only after you accept analytics cookies. Analytics runs under Google Consent Mode: until you consent, analytics storage stays denied. You can review the full list of cookies and change your choice at any time on our Cookie Policy page.

Who we share data with (processors)

We share personal data only with service providers who process it on our behalf under a data-processing agreement, and only as needed:

  • Google (Google Analytics 4) - website analytics, subject to your consent. See Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Cloudflare - content delivery and bot/abuse protection (Cloudflare Turnstile) for our forms.
  • Odoo S.A. - the Odoo Apps Store handles the purchase and invoicing of our apps.
  • Hosting and infrastructure providers - to operate the Site and our support systems.

We may also disclose personal data where required to comply with applicable law, respond to lawful requests from public authorities, or protect our rights.

International data transfers

Some of our providers (such as Google and Cloudflare) may process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where this happens, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and/or an adequacy decision (e.g. the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework).

How long we keep your data

We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described above: support and contact data for as long as needed to assist you and for a reasonable period afterwards; data required for legal or accounting reasons for the periods required by law; and analytics data for the retention period configured in our analytics tool. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.

Your rights under the GDPR

If you are in the EU/EEA, you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • have inaccurate data corrected (rectification);
  • have your data erased ("right to be forgotten");
  • restrict or object to our processing;
  • receive your data in a portable format (data portability);
  • withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting processing that already took place.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us through our contact form or at infofaotools.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. In Portugal this is the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD) - https://www.cnpd.pt.

"Do Not Track" and Global Privacy Control

Because non-essential analytics run only after you opt in through our cookie banner, we do not load them for visitors who have not consented, regardless of any browser "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signal.

Security

We use technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including encryption of data in transit (TLS/SSL) and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your data and to respond promptly to any incident.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. The "last updated" date above shows when it was last revised.
