Untuk memakai aplikasi, beli lisensi yang sah di toko Odoo Apps. Diasumsikan satu salinan harus dibeli untuk setiap database produksi (pembelian juga memberi hak memasang aplikasi di lingkungan pengembangan dan staging tanpa batasan).
Dilarang menaruh kode sumber aplikasi faOtools di tempat yang memungkinkan unduhan publik. Khususnya, sangat dilarang menambahkan modul ke repositori GitHub publik (gunakan repo pribadi) .
Lisensi yang sah memungkinkan siapa pun mengembangkan modul sendiri berdasarkan modul faOtools sebagai pustaka. Modul tersebut boleh didistribusikan (dijual atau dipublikasikan), tetapi harus menyertakan aplikasi asli di dependensi (berkas __manifest__.py atau __openerp__.py) dan memiliki lisensi yang kompatibel.
