How rules work
- Choose which partner fields define a duplicate - soft and rigid lists are configured separately.
- Supported stored types: char, text, many2one, selection, date/datetime, integer, float.
- Most fields need an exact match (
123≠1234).

Performance tips
Searches are as efficient as the Odoo ORM allows, but real-time checks scale with data volume - opening a kanban of 80 contacts against 10,000 partners means 80 searches.
- Slow kanban/list? Turn off the duplicates counter for that view.
- Slow saves? Prefer soft rules and skip rigid ones when full blocking is not required.
