Adding a field is really simple: create it from General Settings (or the product custom fields menus), choose its type and form placement, and it appears on the product form. Optionally enable complementary product types so finished goods and parts show different property sets. Fields stay searchable, importable, and exportable — and remain migration-safe across major Odoo upgrades. Only ERP managers and Product Custom Fields Editors can define them. Turn on Show custom product types in settings, assign a type to templates, and limit each custom field to the types that need it. Leave types empty to show the field for everyone. Finished goods and parts can carry different property sets without cluttering every form.

With the free Products Custom Fields: E-shop extension, set an E-shop Page Placement on any product custom field to publish it on the website product page. Shoppers see the same catalog properties you maintain in the backend.
